Introduction of Happy Sailing

Happy Sailing Education Services Corp was founded in 2016 in Mississauga, Ontario.

With a goal to help and support youth, the founder Helen Yan Song created a full set of methods to foster the youth’s growth systematically. This full set of methods/programs are designed especially for high school international students coming from China.

Canada is a new and different environment for Chinese international students. They need to adapt to a new city, new language, new culture, new school, new teacher, new classmates, new courses in a new way of teaching and they need to build their new friend circle. It makes it harder when they are still young, sensitive, and immature as a teenager. Study abroad doesn’t mean a smooth life is assured.

The founder of Happy Sailing - Helen Yan Song summarized the specific needs of international students – as below:

  1. Adapt to the environment - Adapt to the school, homestay, and the city environment. Adapt to the new language environment. Adapt to the western teaching way and testing method.

  2. Study well – Choose courses properly, build up one's own study methodology and work hard. Set up clear goals for the university program and future career.

  3. Improve abilities – try out new things and take challenges. Get out of the comfort zone and take opportunities to practice.

  4. Build up social relationships – make friends in school or through activities. Connect with the society/community.

Happy Sailing’s work is to help students in all the above aspects. Happy Sailing’s service is way more than school application/custodian or homestay arrangement. Happy Sailing’s service is featured in student development.

For example, for the student activities, Happy Sailing provides a variety of activities on a weekly basis to students - which include:

Various seminars on study; Consulting seminar on relationships; Arts/Culture exploration events; Visiting companies in different industries like finance, communication & media, engineering, etc; Volunteering for communities and charity organizations; Sports/traveling activities. All the activities are designed to systematically improve the students' abilities in all aspects, open their minds, construct their view of life.

For student management/custodian service, Happy Sailing consultants visit the student on a regular basis, communicate with homestay,  attend parent nights, and contact school when any special needs arise. The consultants also contact students’ parents on a regular basis to report students' status and development. The report systematically covers students’ study, mental growth, social and hobby status, which gives parents a clear view of student’s life in Canada.

Happy Sailing’s other service includes:

  1. English exam IELTS/TOFEL tutoring

  2. University application guidance service

  3. Career and university major evaluation

  4. High school application

  5. Homestay placement

At Happy Sailing, we understand that education is an important responsibility to society, and we would like to be part of this role to build the future of our society starting with building each successful student!
